Benetton Group is a story of sport and style: the advertising campaigns that characterize their communication history frame the exhibition area of the 16 Formula 1 cars which bear witness to Benetton Group’s 19 years of presence in the world’s top F1 championship.
The Benetton Archive is not just a museum, but it’s also a workshop of ideas and creativity where history of tomorrow is built. The area is accessible on request to scholars, researchers and professionals.
Museum and archive
Created in 2009, in the Studios area in Castrette di Villorba (TV). The Archive contains and collects and promotes the heritage of over fifty years of Benetton Group company history.
The Archive contains 30,000 boxes of documents, more than 178,000 iconographic materials, over 2500 multimedia materials and 12,000 items of knitwear.
Catalogues, advertisements, commercials, posters, window signs, periodicals, dyeing and knitting machines, photographic material, cars with which the Benetton team competed in Formula 1 and much more are preserved in this special place.
The first wool factory
The heart of the Benetton business is the logistics hub in Castrette di Villorba (TV). Shipments depart from here by land, sea and air to more than 5,000 points of sale around the world. Designed by architects Tobia and Afra Scarpa (world-famous architect couple and related to archistar Carlo Scarpa) officially inaugurated in 1984, a year later it was integrated by a factory for the production of knitwear, and between 2007 and 2009 it was further expanded.
The Castrette area also hosts office spaces, photographic studios, a canteen and the Benetton Studios, a multifunctional area that also includes the Benetton Archive.
